Time for a long overdue update !
I have been waiting for a bright day for a while in hopes of getting a few photos, so when the sun put in an appearance today I took the chance. What a wild week it has been, luckily we survived the storm, it is amazing how stoical the ponies are, they just turn their bottoms into the weather and keep on eating.
As you can see, although we didn't miss the wind, as yet we have no snow although it is visible on the hills.
Donna was being rather unsociable while I was out with the camera, she had clearly booked her table for one, while all the other ponies were at the opposite end of the field grazing.

Blossom and Raven enjoying the December sunshine, both looking very woolly with their thick winter coats.

The foals are all weaned now, we are keeping Rocket Man meantime and the other boys have all headed off to their new homes. We wish their new owners' well and look forward to updates and following their progress.

We are delighted to welcome a new pony into our little herd, Lynnette of Whitefield. Lynnette was very kindly offered to us on breeding loan from her owner Chic Nicoll of the Caenlochan Stud. When Chic asked us if we would be interested in having his lovely mare on loan, we didn't need asked twice, we are thrilled to have her and she has settled in with our ponies beautifully and is part of the gang.

Three heads are better than one ? The youngsters listening to some words of wisdom from older and wiser Lynnette.

Time for a quick update after what has been a very busy month for us. We have moved house, any friends', needing our new address/tel no please drop me an email, if I haven't already beeen in touch.
The ponies are all well and we are now getting on with some pony work again, a pleasant change after packing boxes.
We thoroughly enjoyed the few days of glorious weather at the end of September, I took a few photos early one morning, the sun was just coming up and the low mist was still clearing, one of those rare lovely autumn mornings.

Last weekend we headed up to Aberdeen for the annual NESPHES Duthie Park, Highland Pony Show. Unfortunately the day didn't dawn fair and it didn't improve as we headed north, such a shame , it was a lovely show but bitterly cold.
We had a successful last show for the season, we took our 2yo filly Lochlands Silver Raven, she won her class and Lochlands Madonna was 2nd in the yeld mare class. We were also happy to see Lochlands Fiery Angel win the brood mare class.

Raven was very curious to see what her prize was, photo above, all the class winners received a leather headcollar.
below Maddona, unfortunately not a good day for taking photos, I was hiding in the trailer out of the rain while Donna was in her class, so only got a couple of long distance ones.

We had a very enjoyable and sociable day out at Kirriemuir Show on Saturday. Despite getting up in the rain and a very poor forecast, the day brightened up and apart from the odd shower was warm and pleasant. I think those of us who braved the wet start, were glad we hadn't changed our minds when the alarm clocks went off and revealed the wet start to the day.
We again took our filly Silver Raven, she won the 2yo class and Madonna was 4th in the yeld mares.
Congratulations to Charlie McQuattie who was champion with his lovely 3yo filly Rosie of Strathmore.

The foals are all growing fast and doing well.

Whilst on holiday in June we enjoyed a visit to the Derbyshire Fell, Dales & Highland Pony Show. What a glorious day this was, the weather was superb and the setting at Bakewell Showground was lovely. It was particularly nice for us to see two Lochlands ponies competing. Lochlands Treble Flute and Lochlands Military Flute, neither of which we had seen since selling them as a yearling and weanling. Both ponies were looking wonderful and we were thrilled to see them amongst the prizes. Treble Flute won the gelding class and went on to be Reserve Adult Champion, Military Flute was 3rd in the gelding class and together they won the Progeny Pairs Class.

Photo above, Lochlands Treble Flute and below Lochlands Military Flute.

Last weekend we had an enjoyable day at Fettercairn Show. We took two ponies, 2yo filly Lochlands Silver Raven and yeld mare Lochlands Madonna and came home with a 1st and 3rd. Yesterday we loaded up the same pair and headed off to Strathallan for the annual Highland Pony Society Breed Show. We had a super day and were delighted with Silver Raven winning the 2yo filly class and Madonna being 2nd in the very strong class of non ridden yeld mares.

Congratulations to Lorna Boyd winning the senior gelding class with her gelding Lochlands Vivaldi and also to Angie and Louise Cushnie with Lochlands Fiery Angel who was 4th in the Brood Mare class.

Her colt foal is doing well, and has fairly grown in the time they have been away.
Rocket Man was very pleased to have his playmate home and within minutes they were playing and getting up to mischief together.
