Lochlands Mandolin

Foaled May 1992.

Sire: Woodcock of Whitefield (Colin of Whitefield x Amanda of Whitefield).

Dam: Lochlands Madrigal (Roderick Dhu of Whitefield x Frolic of Mendick).

Mandy, grand dam Frolic of Mendic and dam Lochlands Madrigal

Mandy is fifteen now, foaled in 1992. She is a delightful pony to have, with an absolutely superb temperament, never cross and always content with life. She has been a consistent prizewinner throughout her life. Last shown in 2004 when she had two outings, she was Reserve Champion at Angus Show and won the brood mare class at the Central Scotland Club Show.It is unlikely that she will be shown again, unless she comes out of retirement in a few years down the line for some veteran classes. She still looks incredibly fresh for her fifteen years and hopefully she will be with us for a long time yet.

Eating is very tiring !

Mandy has had six foals, two colts and four fillies. Her first foal a colt sadly died at three months old, her second foal was filly and sold at weaning to home in Germany. Her three fillies have all been retained, and her last colt Mendelssohn was sold as four year old gelding to a lovely home locally.

Taking part in the lighter side of showing......... pictured below, ready for a fancy dress class. Her good temperament makes her first choice for this task. Despite never having been broken to ride, she was quite happy to accept her young rider, complete with cardboard box, to become Noddy's car. Another occasion saw her transformed into a sheep. My young friend Nikki is not so young now, so I think we can safely say that both Nikki and Mandy are now retired from the fancy dress scene. Probably much to the relief of Nikki's Mum, chief costume maker!

2007: Mandy has been served this year with 'Sass' and she is scanned in foal, and due at the end of April 2008.
